Road Trip Eats: Pi Infinite Combinations

Fernandina Beach, FL is one of our favorite places. It's not consistent with your typical Florida beach town. It's charming and picturesque, but brimming with culture. Which in our opinion is a fancy way to say "There's really good food there."

Fernandina Beach is the city on Amelia Island, about a half hour south of the Georgia/Florida State Line off of I-95. We'll talk about this quaint beach town plenty on the blog since it is one of our favorites, but this week we want to bring you to a local pizza joint. Yes, BBQ is probably our favorite food to eat as a family. However, if you ask a few members of our family to choose between pizza and BBQ as an absolute personal favorite, it may become a house divided.

Pi Infinite Combinations is the perfect spot for a lunch or casual dinner, just off of the main strip in downtown Fernandina Beach. It's a gourmet pizza restaurant that's casual order at the counter but also offers high-end ingredients like prosciutto and truffle mushrooms. But we don't think the food is the highlight. The best part? The charming courtyard with lush vegetation and twinkling lights.

Pretty adorable, right? We went for lunch but we imagine the courtyard is a perfect spot around 7:30 pm when the weather is cooling down. Pair the atmosphere with a delicious pizza and bottle of wine...you've got yourself an excellent date night spot or a casual setting with a group.

Pi has that rustic glam look down, with industrial metal decorations and the floor to ceiling chalkboard pizza menu. The wine list written out on a butcher paper roll also contibutes to this industrial theme.

Let's get to the food. We ordered the Black Truffle & Italian Sausage pie. With so many fancy ingredients, how could we resist? The rich taste of the mushrooms and sausage paired with the sharp, bright arugula is perfectly balanced. Add in the creamy ricotta and the cracked black pepper and it's foodie heaven.

Pi Infinite Combinations is a great local spot to try in Fernandina Beach, particularly if you need a break from the fresh coastal fare. We'll continue to show you some of our favorite spots on this perfect little island, but Pi is an excellent place to start your beach getaway.
